Nigeria: VP Sambo Gives Out Daughters in Marriage

 

  Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo, on Saturday, December 8, gave out his two daughters in marriage; Huwaila to Mukhtar Ruma and Aisha to Auwal Abdulrahaman.

The Wedding Fatiha which took place at the Sultan Bello Mosque Unguwan Sarki, Kaduna was supervised by Sheikh Abdulwahab Balele Wali, the Chief Imam of the mosque.

Former military president, Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida represented the brides’ family, while the families of the grooms were represented by former Inspector General of Police Alhaji Gambo Jemeta, who represented Auwal Abdulrahaman while Alhaji Abdullahi Sarki Wali represented Mukhtar Ruma.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim led the Federal Government delegation, while former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari attended.
Also present were serving and former governors, Federal and state legislators, Federal Executive Council members, top security chiefs, captains of industry, royal fathers, religious leaders and several serving and former government functionaries, among other well wishers.
The Vice President at a reception he hosted at the Gen Hassan Usman Katsina House, Kawo, Kaduna, thanked Almighty Allah for making it possible for him and his entire household to witness this auspicious day, adding that as parents who have nurtured their children since birth, they cannot express their joy and excitement.
VP Sambo used the opportunity to express his gratitude to President Goodluck Jonathan and his family for their support.
He also extended his appreciation to Governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa, the good people of Kaduna State and all those that contributed to the success of the event, as well as those that witnessed it, praying Almighty Allah to reward them profoundly and grant them journey mercies back to their respective homes.
"This is indeed a show of love, fraternity and affection by all of you. I thank you. This mammoth gathering of people from far and near who have come to witness this wedding ceremony is a demonstration of love which you have for my family and of your support of our administration's laudable programmes," he said.
He also used the opportunity to pray for the repose of the soul of President Jonathan's late junior brother Chief Meni Innocent Jonathan who was being laid to rest same time at Otuoke, Bayelsa State.
